❗️ We are excited to present our Sunday Keynote Speaker – Dr Magdalena Okarska-Napierała!
🤒 Paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (PIMS-TS) also known as Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children. PIMS resembles infection, however, the disease is not infectious and treatment involves medications which supress a state of hyperinflammation in the body.
👩‍🏫 Magdalena Okarska-Napierała, MD, PhD is the leading investigator of the MultiOrgan Inflammatory Syndromes COVID-19 Related Study (MOIS-CoR). The scientific project, which includes a national registry of inflammatory syndromes in children, launched on May 2020 and the data from this registry reveal PIMS prevalence in our country, as well as its characteristics. The preliminary results of the study have –among others – already been cited in a research letter in the Emerging Infectious Diseases journal, published by the CDC.
