We are excited to present our Saturday Keynote Speaker – Professor Dariusz Gorecki!
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a severe type of muscular dystrophy that primarily affects boys. It is the most common type of muscular dystrophy, with no know cure. In his Lecture „Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: death of a dogma”, Professor Gorecki will explore future of possible treatment of DMM and what role might gene therapy using non-viral vectors play in it.
Professor Dariusz Gorecki was born in Warsaw, Poland where he obtained his PhD. His key research interest is the pathogenesis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy – an area he studied at University of Cambridge, Royal Free & University College Medical School in London and Harvard Medical School. Since 2007 he has worked as a Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of Portsmouth, where he is the Director of Research in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences.
